Travel Tips

GETTING TO BARGA

To get to Barga, we recommend flying into Pisa; but Florence, Rome, and Milan are all workable options should they be more convenient for you. The closest city with public transportation is Lucca, which is about 40 minutes away from the Villa where we will be hosting the festivities. Taxis and ubers will not be readily available in the smaller towns, so we recommend booking a taxi ahead of time or renting a car. Travel will be provided the day of the event.

Where to Stay

Hotels

Hotel options within walking distance to the duomo where we will have the ceremony are Villa Gherardi, La Pergola, and Villa Moorings. Renaissance Tuscany Il Ciocco Resort & Spa and Hotel Milano (has a fantastic restaurant) are other great options. Lucca is the closest "bigger" city with a wide array of hotel options to choose from within the city walls.

Airbnb

Renting an Airbnb is a great option for accommodations in the area. There are plenty of beautiful houses and villas in the vicinity from which to enjoy the Tuscan countryside. We recommend looking for rentals in or around Barga or Lucca as these are the towns we will arrange transportation to and from on the wedding day.

What to Wear

Dress Code

Attire is formal, black tie optional. Ladies, keep in mind the town of Barga is quite old and therefore has steep and at times uneven sidewalks. Weather permitting, most of the reception will take place outdoors on grass, so chunky heels are recommended.
